East Boston students urged to avoid violence through interactive curriculum

Six months ago, Tatiana Galdamez, a seventh-grader at Mario Umana Academy, might have been considered at risk for being involved in gang activity.

She often talked about gangs and flashed their signs, she said. But now, since she completed the Overcoming Violence program at her East Boston school, she’s determined to steer clear.
