Dorchester man arraigned for October homicide in Mattapan

BOSTON, December 30, 2025 – A Dorchester man was arraigned today on charges connected to an October shooting that left a woman dead, and two men injured in Mattapan, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

DKHRAI WORNUM-BROWN, 22, was charged in Dorchester BMC with first-degree murder and carrying a firearm without a license.

Judge Rebeca Figueroa ordered Wornum-Brown held without bail. He will return to court February 5 for a probable cause hearing.

At about 1:30 p.m. on October 11, officers responded to a report of multiple people shot in Mattapan. About five individuals were congregated on the front porch of 2 Hiawatha Road, when two men approached the home on a scooter. One of the men got off the scooter and fired at least 21 shots at the porch, striking three people present. The shooter got back onto the scooter and the two men fled the scene. The three victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment for gunshot wounds. On November 7, 18-year-old G’Kiyah Lewis of Malden, who was struck in the head and upper torso, was pronounced deceased. The other two adult male victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were able to identify and locate the two men through a combination of video, GPS tracking, and other circumstantial evidence. At approximately 6:00 a.m. today, Boston Police arrested Wornum-Brown, the operator of the scooter, at 260 Ruggles Street in Roxbury.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the second man involved.

“The violent death of G’Kiyah Lewis is a societal tragedy. I’m grateful for the great investigative effort that brought someone forward to answer for this terrible crime and I urge the second suspect to turn himself in before he or anyone else gets hurt. I extend my deepest sympathies to G’Kiyah’s family and friends and our office will provide all the help and support they need as this case moves forward,” Hayden said.

All charged individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
