Two men charged with assaulting, beating man with brick

BOSTON, June 11, 2025 – Two men were arraigned in Chelsea District Court this week for assaulting a man with a brick outside a Revere ice cream shop in May, leaving the victim with severe injuries including facial fractures and a brain bleed, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

LEONARD LOMAX, 33, of Boston was charged with assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (brick), and malicious destruction of property exceeding $1,200.

Lomax currently has an open case out of BMC Central for conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act. He has a criminal history dating back to 2009.

Judge Kimberly Foster released Lomax on personal recognizance, denying the prosecutor’s request that Lomax be held for a dangerousness hearing and that his bail be revoked on the pending case. Lomax is due back in court on July 23.

At around 3:34 am on May 4, cameras show two individuals, later identified as Lomax and JEFFERY SATTERWHITE, 35, of Lynn kicking a vehicle outside of Twist N' Shake at 82 Revere Beach Boulevard, causing damage to multiple areas of the car. While the two men were kicking his car, the victim, 33, called 911. Lomax approached him. The victim, noticing a brick in Lomax’s hand, began to retreat and repeatedly plead for Lomax to drop the brick.

Satterwhite is seen driving away and parking on Shirley Ave. He then approaches the victim from behind and strikes him with an object believed to be a rock. The victim collapses and Satterwhite strikes him three more times.

After Satterwhite disengages, Lomax is seen running toward the victim and striking him with what is believed to be a brick while the victim is on the ground. The victim sustained orbital fractures, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed. He was treated at Mass General Hospital.

A State Police trooper from the Metro Gang Unit viewed the surveillance video from Twist N' Shake and identified Lomax as one of the suspects.

Satterwhite was identified through his vehicle with the help of the License Plate Reader system and the surveillance footage.

The victim identified both Lomax and Satterwhite from a photo array.

Satterwhite was arraigned Wednesday on one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, malicious destruction of property over $1,200 and assault and battery.

Judge Kimberly Foster ordered Satterwhite held on $2,500 bail. Satterwhite is due back in court on July 8.

“The facts here lay out a vicious attack the left the victim with serious external and internal injuries. Our request for a dangerousness hearing and bail revocation was entirely justified given the sheer violence underlying these allegations,” Hayden said.

All charged individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
