$50,000 bail for Randolph man charged with Back Bay road rage stabbing
BOSTON, September 3, 2025 – A Randolph man is being held on $50,000 bail after being charged today in BMC Central for stabbing a food delivery driver Tuesday night in the Back Bay, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
BYRON ALEXANDER, 45, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife) and threat to commit a crime. Judge Paul Treseler set $50,000 bail and ordered Alexander back to court September 30 for a probable cause hearing.
At about 10:36 p.m. on Tuesday, Boston police responded to a stabbing in the area of 10 Huntington Avenue. Officers located a male victim, 32, seated inside a vehicle and suffering from multiple stab wounds to his shoulder, chest, and upper back. The victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Officers spoke to a witness who was helping the victim deliver food for Grub Hub to an address on Beacon Street. Upon arrival, they parked in front of a white Honda Accord operated by an unknown male, later identified as Alexander.
Before the victim completed the delivery Alexander moved his vehicle and beeped his horn. The victim moved his car and drove around the block to get away. The witness told officers that Alexander followed them and tried to hit them with his car. When the victim stopped at a red light, Alexander exited his car and approached the victim’s window. The witness said Alexander threatened to shoot the victim, but they did not see a firearm. Alexander then yelled to the victim “are you afraid to die?” The victim exited his car and, after encountering Alexander, returned with multiple stab wounds.
The victim then called 911 and began to follow Alexander down Boylston Street. The victim, losing consciousness, stopped his car on Huntington Avenue. A description of Alexander and his car was broadcast over the radio.
State police located Alexander on 93 Southbound near Freeport Street and placed him under arrest. The witness positively identified Alexander during a viewing.
Alexander was convicted of second-degree murder in 1997 and received a 10- to 15-year prison sentence.
“Far too often we see traffic episodes that with a little bit of patience would be forgotten forever turn into full-on road rage cases where people get hurt and people get charged. Along with the injuries suffered and cases prosecuted comes the reality that the defendants had the ability from the start to create a different outcome,” Hayden said.
All charged individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
