Six New Hampshire residents arraigned for Downtown Crossing assault and robbery

BOSTON, March 18, 2026 – Six people from Manchester, New Hampshire are facing charges in connection with a robbery in the Downtown Crossing MBTA Station where they chased and assaulted a victim before stealing his phone, ID, and debit cards, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

LUIZ LOAIZA, 20, JOSE SOTO, 20, CAMERON CASTRO, 21, ANTHONY PERRY, 22, and ALEXANDER LOAIZA, 21, were all charged in BMC Central Monday with unarmed robbery, assault and battery with a deadly weapon (shod foot), and disorderly conduct.

GIAVANNA WILLIAMS, 20, was charged with receiving stolen property over $1,200 and disorderly conduct.

Judge James Coffey set bail at $500 each and ordered all parties involved to stay away from the victim and the location of the offense. All six will return to court May 19 for a probable cause hearing.

At about 3:25 p.m. on March 15, officers responded to the intersection of Liberty Square and Water Street for a reported robbery that occurred in the Downtown Crossing MBTA station. The victim, 19, told police that, while onboard the Red Line train, a group of males verbally confronted him. When the victim exited the train at Downtown Crossing, the group chased him onto the escalator and attacked him. The victim fell to the ground and the group jointly kicked him in the face and head before taking his cellphone and fleeing the station up the escalator.

Officers tracked the victim’s cellphone using the find my iPhone feature and located a group of eight people including Loaiza, Soto, Castro, Perry, and Loaiza outside of 99 Blackstone Street about one hour after the assault. One member of the group, later identified as Williams, prior to being questioned, asked officers, “is this about the phone?” and removed the stolen cellphone and debit cards bearing the victim’s name from her sweatshirt. Officers additionally observed blood stains on Soto’s shoes, jacket, and shirt.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the Downtown Crossing station of the altercation on the escalator and identified the five individuals as members of the group they stopped. Officers slowly drove the victim by 99 Blackstone Street where he said he was “100% sure” that the group, except two female and one male present, were the individuals that assaulted him.

“This was a brazen daytime attack in the middle of the city by a group from out of state who, quite mistakenly, may have thought they could get away with such horrendous behavior and violence. They will be held accountable for their frightening attack on this young man,” Hayden said.

All charged individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
