Two Boston teens plead guilty to fatal 2024 Dorchester shooting
BOSTON, April 22, 2026 – Two Boston teens pleaded guilty this week to a 2024 Dorchester shooting that left one man dead and another injured, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
MANUEL GUERRERO, 19 and LUIS PEREZ, 18, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, armed assault to murder, and home invasion Tuesday before their trial, which was scheduled to begin next week.
Judge Mary Ames sentenced both Guerrero and Perez to 18-22 years in state prison with two years of probation to follow.
On August 12, 2024, Guerrero and Perez were seen on surveillance video exiting the rear passenger door of a Kia Forte at the intersection of Trent and Clarkson streets. They were seen walking up to the third floor of 5 Trent Street and knocking on the door. Leudis Concepcion, 20, opened the door, saw the two masked men with guns, and quickly closed the door. One of the men fired two shots through the door, striking Concepcion in the arm.
Hearing the shots from outside, Concepcion’s father, Leudis Mejia Sanchez, 49, ran up the stairs as Guerreo and Perez ran down. The same gunman shot Mejia Sanchez in the chest from close range, killing him.
Both men were charged with shooting the father and son though it is unclear who actually fired the shots.
Guerrero and Perez fled back to the Kia and drove to Inwood Street, where both exited and made their way on foot to Geneva Avenue. Surveillance video captured their faces unmasked, leading investigators to identify them.
A few days later, the Kia was found in a Zipcar parking space. GPS information from the rental car and data from a GPS monitoring bracelet worn by Perez for an unrelated armed robbery at the time of the shooting corroborated their movements.
During the hearing on Tuesday, Mejia Sanchez’s family remembered him for his “kindness and spirit.” They described him as a “community leader, a person who touched countless lives with selflessness, always prioritizing others.”
“The combination of surveillance technology and strong investigative work led to the identification and arrest of these defendants and their eventual confession. I extend my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Leudis Mejia Sanchez, whose last act in life was a valiant effort to help his son,” Hayden said.
All charged individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
