Boston man indicted for string of elder-targeted robberies throughout Boston
BOSTON, June 24, 2026 – A Boston man was indicted in Suffolk Superior Court Tuesday on nearly two dozen charges stemming from nine separate robberies of older women that occurred in and around Boston from November 2025 to April 2026, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
DANEURIS DIAZ, 22, is charged with five counts of larceny by stealing from a person over 60, five counts of larceny of a credit card, four counts of fraudulent use of a stolen credit card, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of unarmed robbery, one count of assault and battery on a person over 60, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, and one count of uttering threats.
Diaz is scheduled to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior on July 7.
The robberies occurred on November 26, 2025, and between April 13 and April 25, 2026. Diaz routinely targeted elderly women, stealing their purses while on a moped while the victims walked down the street.
On November 26, 2025, Diaz approached an 85-year-old woman on Richie Street in Jamaica Plain and lifted his sweatshirt, motioning to his waistband where the victim saw what she believed to be a gun, and said, “give me everything you have, or I’ll kill you.” Diaz fled with the woman’s belongings, including a credit card that was traced to a purchase shortly after at a Family Dollar in Dorchester.
The victim fell during the robbery and struck her cheek on the pavement.
Officers reviewed security footage and observed a large rose tattoo that covered a majority of the top of his right hand, which they used in addition to old booking photos to identify Diaz. Diaz was arraigned on the matter in Roxbury BMC and released in February with the pre-trial condition of home confinement and GPS monitoring.
Diaz was released from home confinement on April 10. After having his GPS monitoring device removed, Diaz robbed eight additional female victims aged 44 to 78 in a similar manner in Dorchester, Mattapan, Mission Hill, and Jamaica Plain between April 13 and April 25. In many of the April robberies, Diaz wore a single glove on his right hand to conceal the tattoo used to identify him in the November robbery. Officers later found two right-handed gloves and clothing that matched surveillance footage from the robberies in Diaz’s home.
In two of the eight additional robberies the victims fell to the ground and suffered injuries.
Hayden praised the diligent investigations conducted throughout several Boston police districts that involved hundreds of surveillance videos which track Diaz before and after every robbery.
“The facts here lay out a reprehensible pattern of robberies and assaults targeting some of our most vulnerable citizens. The painstaking work by detectives to identify and build cases against this individual deserves enormous credit and immediately enhances the safety of our neighborhoods.” Hayden said.
All charged individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
