Prosecutors successfully petition for bail revocation for Boston man charged with spate of crimes over 18 months

BOSTON, January 27, 2023—Prosecutors have successfully moved to have a Boston man who has picked up five violent cases over the past 18 months held for 60 days on revoked bail, District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

“We take into account many factors when proceeding on a course like this, including the details and frequency of incidents, the circumstances of the individual in question, and the safety of the community.  In this case those factors led to our decision to seek revocation,” Hayden said.

TYREE MARSHALL, 33, was charged in Central BMC on Thursday, January 26 with assault and battery on a family or household member stemming from an incident on Wednesday where he punched a female acquaintance several times in the face near the Back Bay MBTA station. Judge James Stanton ordered Marshall held on $2,500 bail, and also revoked Marshall’s previous bail on open cases for 60 days. Marshall will next appear in court on February 16.

In June 2021, Marshall was charged with larceny and threats after stealing two bottles of Jack Daniels from the Star Market near the Prudential Center and telling a store loss prevention officer “I’m going to come back and kill you if you call the police.  I know where you work.”

In October 2021, Marshall was charged with assault and battery on a person over 60 stemming from an incident at the Back Bay MBTA station in which Marshall and two others assaulted a man and tried to steal his cell phone.

In November 2021, Marshall was charged with indecent assault and battery and assault and battery after attacking a female acquaintance at the Government Center MTBA station.

In September 2022, Marshall was arrested on assault and battery charges after punching a man outside Boston Public Library on Boylston Street and breaking the man’s jaw.  At his arraignment on that charge Marshall’s bail on the prior cases was revoked until December 2022. Following his December release Marshall returned to court January 12 for GPS probation tracking violations and then for the new offenses on Thursday.
